The community of the Bahà'is of York facilitates a variety of events open to the public which are regular features of the York calendar: the York International Meal, World Religion Day and Holy Day Celebrations . They have also long been an active part of such initiatives as One World Week, Women's Week, the Peace Festival, the Inter-Faith group, the Council for Racial Equality, UNA and Agenda 21.

The impetus that the local Bahà'is gave to the first Agenda 21 group has lead to impressive results. There is now a City of York Council Local Agenda 21 Officer, a Citizen's Forum and a Steering Group which has resulted in a Local Agenda 21 strategy for York.

To raise awareness of its activities and principles the local Bahà'is frequently organise displays and exhibitions in the York City Library and in the centre of town.
